OLD DESIGN
FAIR - DIRECT - SUSTAINABLE
Fair, direct trade and the sustainable cultivation of our coffee are important to us - that's why we import a large part of our coffee directly from our coffee farmers!
adjustment of our prices
Due to increased costs in all areas, we have to adjust our prices in order to continue to offer you high-quality coffee.
For us as coffee roasters, it is not just energy costs that have increased - green coffee prices, logistics costs for import and delivery to the roastery are also areas where costs have changed significantly.
The change in our prices will take place on November 1st, 2024 and will ensure that we can continue to offer you the high quality of our coffee specialties.
The new Kaffanero quality
We have revised our blends and increased the quality of our green coffees. By trading directly with our long-term partners and coffee farmers, we obtain a significantly higher quality of green coffee. Feel free to try our new blends and coffees for yourself.
Furthermore, as you will surely have noticed during a visit to our roastery, we have had a new roasting master, Frederick, since August 2023. Whether it's cupping, roasting profiles, analyzing green coffee or other topics in the coffee sector: Frederick is an absolute professional in the coffee sector. This has enabled us to significantly improve not only the green coffee quality, but also the roasting quality of our coffees!
Increased costs in all areas
It's no surprise, because everyone will notice it when they look at their own energy bills at home - the costs for our energy supply have risen significantly. But as a coffee roaster, we have been hit by higher costs in several areas.
Even though we buy most of our coffee directly from our coffee farmers and arrange contracts directly with them, they also look at the stock exchange price and are partly guided by the pricing here. Sad but true - if the stock exchange price for coffee rises, all other green coffee prices rise as well, even if the coffee is not listed on the stock exchange.
Arabica stock market price
It's easy to see - the price of Arabica has increased by more than 70% within 1 1/2 years and is at record highs.
Robusta stock market price
The stock market price for Robusta has even risen by more than 100% in the same period of the last 1 1/2 years and is now at its highest levels ever.
energy costs
Whether electricity, gas or heat - in Europe, Germany is unfortunately the leader in energy prices - these have also risen significantly over the last 3 years.
transport costs
Whether it is the shipping of the green coffee, the delivery of our coffee bags from Hamburg or the delivery - our travel costs have increased significantly.
Why is the stock price of coffee rising?
It is well known that the future is traded on the stock exchange - and this is also true for coffee. The conditions for growing coffee are strongly influenced by climate change. Coffee farmers are feeling this because temperature extremes are occurring with significantly greater frequency and frequency.
For example, strong heat waves and monsoon-like rainfall during what are normally dry periods cause coffee plants to shed their cherries, resulting in crop failures.
As the demand for coffee grows year after year, the supply from coffee farmers is now significantly reduced due to these losses. The result: the price of green coffee is rising.
Please feel free to contact us personally and we will be happy to explain the problems of coffee farmers to you over a cup of coffee in our roastery.
